Buttercream Flowers

Students will learn how to create beautiful buttercream spring flowers to decorate your cupcakes!

Flowers include, dahlia, mum, narcissus, primrose, hydrangea, zinnia, Indian Blanket and large roses … plus piping roses on a stick.

Class supply list below; Icing colors will be provided by the instructor.

 

SUPPLY LIST:

  • 4 – 6 cups Medium consistency Buttercream (please NO whipped icing)
  • 6 – 8   1 cup bowls with lids
  • Small spatulas for mixing icing.  Angled, flat and tapered.  Bring at least 3, more if you have them.  Avoid plastic utensils.
  • Decorating bags, your choice, Disposable, featherweight or parchment. (1 for each color) bring about 20.  Some amounts of icing are very small and ½ parchments work very well for this amount.
  • Couplers – at least 6, more if you have them
  • Tips – 2, 3, 59 or 61, 79 or 81, 102, 103, 104, 124, 406, (if you don’t have 406 bring tip 125), 233, 352, 67.  (If you have more than 1 of the tips listed above bring the extras, it will save you having to pipe through to the new color)
  • Piping gel
  • A cake board 10×14 covered with wax paper or a Wilton practice board
  • Flower nail
  • Cupcake Nail (optional)
  • A roll of WAX paper
  • A damp cloth (dish cloth/tea towel)
  • Paper towels cut into quarters
  • Small pair of scissors
  • Box of Toothpicks
  • A decorators paint brush
  • Water in a spray bottle
  • 2 cups of powdered sugar
  • 6-12 Cupcakes in a cupcake box
  • Apron

Perfect Your Piping Skills

2hr hands on class

Students will learn different piping techniques including: shells, reverse shells, triple reverse shells, Fleur-de-lis and colonial scrolls.

  • 3 cups of buttercream, any color not white
  • Tips, 16, 18, 21, 32, 199
  • 3 Decorating bags of choice
  • 3 couplers
  • Small angled spatula
  • 10×14 cake board covered with wax paper
  • Small spray bottle of water
